How stupid are we?

Seriously… as I was reading the news this morning, I just kept asking myself “Does anyone actually believe this stuff?”

I’m not just talking about a single media outlet… they all profit through scaring or enraging people about how the world is going to end in the next five minutes, unless we “Stay tuned after this short commercial break.”

How stupid are we?

Thinking too far into this question could result in an infinite spiral through every moment in recent history. Media personalities, musicians, news anchors, politicians, and world leaders throw out completely idiotic statements to inflame people and consolidate their power/customer base and we… just nod our heads, eat the junk they feed us and ask for more.

Can we all just agree to take a breath for a moment… and think a little more deeply than the mindless, divisive issues we’re being fed?

Libertarians aren’t potheads (Sorry… Woody Harrelson).

Republicans aren’t evil (Okay… Okay… Richard Nixon).

Democrats aren’t The Antichrist… that’s not even a thing (well… maybe Andrew Jackson).

Maybe… let’s put the devices away, take the headphones out, and shut the ignorant television off long enough to get to know each other. There’s a chance we’ll realize that most people are pretty decent and just want to live their life.

Especially, Christians and churches. Come on guys, stop being so outraged and offended all the time. We claim to follow a book that gives, literally, NO ADVICE on how to run the U.S. government, but DOES say: “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone.”

Let’s do that.
